PERFORMANCE REPORT OF BLIND CHESS IN ASIAN PARA GAMES 2022

HELD AT HANGZHOU, CHINA FROM 22 TO 28 OCTOBER, 2023

 

Blind Chess in Asian Para Games 2022 held at Hangzhou, China from 22 to 28 October, 2023 was held in a grand style and this edition total we have won 8 medals (2 Gold, 1 Silver and 5 Bronze).  This is more than last edition.  All these players are selected strictly based on merit in the National Chess Championship held at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini Keshav Srushti, Uttan Village, Essel World Road, Bhayander (West), Thane – 401106, Maharashtra from 13 to 18 March, 2023.  Accordingly, the following 12 players are selected to represent the Country.

Summary:

The Indian Visually Impaired team consist of 12 players, 2 coaches and 4 additional technical experts given their best and because of them we have reached our goal in a sky high made their debut appearance at the Asian Games 2022 held at Hangzhou, China. The Performance of entire team was excellent.  Compared with 2018 edition, this edition we have won 3 more medals extra.

In the individual category, Himanshi Rathi secured a bronze medal in Women’s Individual Standard VI-B1, while Darpan Inani clinched a gold medal in Men’s Individual Rapid VI-B1. Soundarya Kumar Pradhan earned a silver medal in the same category, and Ashwin Makwana received a bronze medal in Men’s Individual Rapid VI-B1. Additionally, Kishan Gangolli achieved a bronze medal in Men’s Individual Rapid VI-B2/B3.

In the Team Category, the medal achievements are as follows:

Darpan Inani, Soundarya Kumar Pradhan, and Ashwin Makwana secured the Gold medal in the Men’s Team Rapid VI-B1. Kishan Gangolli, Aryan Joshi, and Somendra earned the Bronze medal in the Men’s Team Rapid VI-B2/B3. Himanshi Rathi, Sanskruti More, and Vruthi Jain also clinched the Bronze medal in the Women’s Team Rapid VI-B1.
