Charudatta appointed Vice President, IBCA
Charudatta Jadhav has been nominated as First Vice President of International Braille Chess Association-IBCA Apex body for chess. (First non European to receive this honour)

Nomination of Charudatta Jadhav as First Vice President of International Braille Chess Association is ice on cake. He is the only non-Europian person to get this honour. Since 2000 to 2008 he was the executive board member of IBCA.

The composition of the new IBCA Administrative Board is the following:

14th Chess Olympiad awarded to India, 2012
14th Chess Olympiad 2012 has been awarded to India (First time in Asia)

After successfully conducted the 11th Individual World Chess Championship for the blind 2006 in Goa, India has given request for 14th Chess Olympiad for the blind 2012. Proven capabilities and strong leadership of India help us to bring this prestigious event to India. IBCA congress awarded this event to India unanimously and Charudatta Jadhav has been appointed as a Chairman of organizing committee.

 Shrikrishna Udupa won Gold Medal on forth board

Shrikrishna Udupa playing his second international tournament gave his exhalent performance. Playing on forth board he scored 8 points out of 9 rounds and secured a Gold Medal.

This is the first Gold medal won by Indian blind chess player.

In the past medal winning performance by Indian chess players, Charudatta Jadhav won Silver Medal in Irish International championship 1998 and Madan Bagayatkar won Bronze medal on second board in 11th Chess Olympiad 2000. And now Shrikrishna’s Gold medal is the biggest achievement   by any blind chess player of India.

AICFB has organized the first ever Asian Chess Championship in India in December 2003, which was the first International chess tournament in the history of India.
AICFB has the honour of hosting the 11th Individual World Chess Championship for the blind in October 2006 at Radisson White Sands Resorts, Goa, India, which is also the first World chess tournament to be held outside Europe.
AICFB received 9th NSCB National Sports Award 2003-2004 as the Outstanding Institute promoting Sports for the Blind in India.
General Secretary Mr. Charudatta Jadhav, is the only person from Asia to have the honour of being appointed on the four-member board of the International Braille Chess Association (IBCA), the apex world body in 2000 and re-appointed in 2004.
