The Maharashtra State cabinet approved a revised policy for directly recruiting highly qualified sportspersons into government service in Maharashtra. The government had been considering this policy, which was officially approved during cabinet meeting. The Sports Minister emphasized that this approval now allows meritorious athletes to be directly recruited into government positions.
Due to a high number of eligible sportsmen and limited vacant positions, the Cabinet decided to create 271 new posts specifically for sports persons.
