AICFB West Zone Chess Championship for the Visually Challenged 2023

The Inaugural Function of the AICFB West Zone Chess Championship for the Visually Challenged 2023 was successfully concluded at the Shri. Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Devasthan, Goa. The event will be held from 3rd to 6th August 2023 and received overwhelming support from various dignitaries and chess enthusiasts.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri. Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar, the Ex. Deputy Chief Minister of Goa. Alongside him, several other prominent personalities attended the function, including Mr. Manish Thool (Secretary of AICFB), Kishor Bandekar (Organizing Chairman), Mr. Sanjay Kavlekar (Organizing Secretary), Mr. Swapnil Shah (Treasurer of AICFB), Jt. Secretary of GCA Mr. Kishor Dessai, President of Unique Chess Academy Mr. Amrut Naik, Secretary of QTCA Mr. Sameer Naik, Sarpunch Fatorpa Mr. Mahesh Faldessai, and Panch Sheetal Naik. The Chief Arbiter IA Pravin Pantawane and Mrs. Vanita Dessai, who handled the comparing duties, also graced the event with their presence.

The venue, Shri. Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Devasthan, provided a serene and auspicious setting for the championship, fostering an environment of positive energy and sportsmanship.

Shri. Babu Kavlekar, the Chief Guest, delivered an inspiring speech appreciating the visually challenged players for their determination and commitment in participating in the championship. He assured his unwavering support to both the players and the organizers, pledging continued assistance in future events.

Mr. Kishor Bandekar extended his congratulations to the All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) for successfully conducting the Visually Challenged Championship across India. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to host this prestigious tournament at the revered Shri. Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Devasthan.

Mr. Manish Thool shared notable highlights of the various activities conducted by AICFB and commended the exceptional performance displayed by the participating players.
